"Selfie" Quick Write

I don't think it's very disrespectful at all, if you go to any church and sit through a service, chances are the littler kids have no clue what's going on. It;s a natural thing for them to be wandering around. Plus, the little ones love technology so it looks to me like a normal day in any religion if you ask me.

Oct. 2 Academic Shoot Questions.

1. I believe i could take photos like the ones I've seen at the extracurricular activities and cool classes Akins has to offer.
2. I'm not too familiar with classrooms yet.
3. I'll probably have to get the best shot by timing it perfectly and not making the kids pose, I want them to act as if I wasn't there.

Academics and Community Service

I chose this photo because it details the stress a lot of students go through nowadays with the tests and vigorous schedules we deal with.
I think this photo shows good balance between the books, walls, and the guy sitting down.

Academics Shoot Preview.

"The Story"- I believe this tells the best stories out of the selection because it shows a future generation that cares about other people/ the needy.
"Action and Emotion"- This shows crazy action going on in the science lab! Water everywhere, great action shot!
"Filling the Frame"- Lots of equipment in the back, kids interacting in the middle, and some weird reaction going on in the center; lots to look at here.

9-11 Avoiding Mergers Photo

This photo has a lot of mergers that would distract you from the main point here. I mainly chose this photo because it shows the two people putting out all the rubbish below them.

9-11 Framing Photo

Framing is shown by a view of the apartment, and also the building torn down outside. I chose this picture because you can see an overall total of the damage done on that day.

9-11 Balance Photo

This picture is quite symmetrical with the triangle shape being formed in the center of the frame.I chose this not only for its symmetrical perspective, but the aftermath also.

9-11 Lines Photo

This displays lines and also the people hanging on for their lives hoping for help.I chose this because it shows the extremities of the situation; people were literally hanging outside the building desperately calling for help.

9-11 Rule of Thirds Photo

This particular photo exemplifies the rule of thirds by placing the street horizon towards the bottom. I chose this one because it displays the confusion of the people and how shocking this event was.

9-11 Simplicity Photo

This picture creates a very simple perspective on the burning tower after being struck by an airplane. I chose this mainly for the outline of the airplane that you can clearly see imprinted onto the building.

Elements of Art painting

Line is being displayed pretty clearly between the houses, the couple, and the pitchfork.

Shape plays a big deal, just look at all of them.
Unity is represented by all of the colors and designs coming together flawlessly.
This picture gives me a sense of balance because of the mood and colors are very mellow.
This one shows a lot of textures within the water, trees, grass, and other nature items.
The colors create a nice contrast throughout the entire painting.
This picture creates emphasis on the woman, but when you step back, it's actually President Lincoln.
Movement is created by showing the apple hitting the man.
This has a pattern of circle shapes and wavy lines.
Rhythm is created from the blue and green lines intertwining.
This painting examples value, showing all things creating something around the same tone/ mood.
This has form, as you can see how far back the train reaches in the horizon.
This painting shows a variety of colors that we use in all paintings.
This painting shows the great distances between the two mountains.

Principles of Design

Balance- is the comfortable or pleasing arrangement of things in art

Contrast- is created by using elements that conflict with one another

Emphasis- in the focal area of an artwork gives it importance

Movement- means the artist is taking viewers on a trip through the work by means of lines, edges, shapes, and colors often leading to the focal area.

Pattern- made in art when the same shapes or elements are repeated again and again.

Rhythm- repetition of shapes, lines, and forms

Unity- means that all elements in an artwork are in harmony

Elements of Art

Line- marks made by a pointed tool: brush, pencil, pen, etc

Shape-formed wherever the ends of a continuous line meet

Color- Color wheels show the primary colors, secondary colors, and the tertiary (intermediate) colors. They also show the relationships between complementary colors across from each other, such as blue and orange; and analogous (similar or related) colors next to each other such as yellow, green, and blue. Black and white may be thought of as colors but, in fact, they are not. White light is the presence of all color; black is the absence of reflected light and therefore the absence of color.

Value (Tone)- or tone, refers to dark and light

Form- describes objects that are three-dimensional, having length, width, and height.

Texture- refers to the surface quality, both simulated and actual, of artwork.

Space- refers to distances or areas around, between, or within components of a piece.
