Quick Write 10/17

I like these photos a bit more than the ones by Nick Brandt. They pop out to me unlike the other ones, plus these photos provide more color.

Casey Catelli Story

A theme I could create would be our constant school spirit even though i'm new here. There's a lot of pride in this school for some reason. This theme shows that art deserves to be everywhere and other students care because they like nice looking things like these to be up and in our world. Advantages would be being able to share it instantly with others around the world. A disadvantage would be not getting the best quality on the camera. Advantages of SLR would be the photo would look fantastic. A disadvantage would be not being able to share it as fast.

Africa

This photo just reminds me of the crazy looking animals we have and I like how they're all marching in one line. Rule of thirds is present here, lining them up from the bottom left to the right. He uses a Pentax 67II with only two fixed lenses. His goal was to memorialize the vanishing natural grandeur of East Africa. His hope was to capture the animals in their habitat and get closer to get a sense of their spirit. "The photos are my elegy to these beautiful creatures, to this wrenchingly beautiful world that is steadily, tragically vanishing before our eyes." 

Reaction to Africa

The pictures make me realize what kinds of crazy animals we have on this planet, but don't get to see everyday. It provides a majestic feeling.
